Children And Honesty

The other day, Emma and I were sitting outside chatting and enjoying a snack together. At one point she leaned over with a mischievous grin, and whispered, “Tomorrow I’m going to do something that I’m not supposed to!”

“Oh?” I said, curiously. “What are you planning to do?”

Her eyes sparkled, and she giggled gleefully. “I’m going to go into the kitchen, and I’m going to reach up on the counter and touch your phone!!”

“I see,” I said, casually. “So, do you think tomorrow you can tell me before you do that?”

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Thanks,” I said, smiling. “Good talk.”
